I hope every parent of young children has discovered the delights of Wibbly Pig and Percy the Park Keeper:...
.
What happens when the two meet? Not a trick question related to human embryology ethics, may I add!
Well it turns out that the authors of these two series (Mick Inkpen and Nick Butterworth, respectively) are both Christians, and are friends. Wibbly’s light is fairly well hidden under the proverbial bushel, but Percy’s is slightly less so. Percy the Park Keeper is a gardener who looks after a large, spacoius, colourful, fun park. A number of animals live in the park, and high on his priority is the well-being, fun, and care of these animals. Reminds me of something. And little lines, like when Percy says to Hedgehog “If hedgehogs were meant to fly they would have been given wings” give the game away.
They collaborated to write a number of Christian children’s books. The stories are told with the same accessibility, appropriate humour, and clarity of both the above more well-known children’s series. The illustrations are as good too. You can buy the stories individually, but there are also two volumes available containing several in each:
You’ll find: The lost Sheep, The Precious Pearl, The Two Sons, The House on the Rock, The Ten Silver Coins, The Little Gate, The Good Stranger and The Rich Farmer in Stories Jesus Told and 4 others in Animal Tales.

Are there any you don't have yet?
Obviously, with Christmas approaching, I ask this for no particular reason...
