I’m often saddened when, in these days, weddings seems to matter more then marriage. (How encouraging, by contrast, to be helping one couple, who have recently become followers of Christ, to organise a wedding in the shortest possible time. They are keen to be married and are prepared to sacrifice lots of elements of “the ideal wedding”).
While checking my Yahoo! webmail, the same advertisement has kept on appearing as part of that page. The ad is for the Yahoo! dating service. Their attempt to make readers click on the ad reads “Too busy to find a date?”... [Let us help, is the message].
The trouble is, how many people are single because they are too busy to find someone to marry, and yet would have time to healthily sustain and build a marriage were they to find someone. If you’re that busy “finding a date” is the least of your worries. The subconscious message (albeit given by a company that makes money helping you find a partner, not in helping you love that partner sacrificially) is that it takes more time to initiate a relationship than it does to build it.
