Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, who with his hand has fulfilled what he promised with his mouth to David my father.
How encouraging, God doesn’t live hand to mouth but “mouth to hand”. What he promises with his mouth he does with his hand.
Also an excellent example of anatomical language used of God in a way which must be analogical. His hand? More like Solomon, Hiram and the forced labourers. His mouth? More like Nathan’s.
Yet the wonder still remains that God spoke with his mouth. God acted with his hand. And (unlike us), the two are in total harmony, because we are talking about the simple yet faithful God.
